- training for a career; or
- developing your career
Request a mentor. Become a mentor. Or both
The Northern Lights Aero Foundation mentorship program connects both aspiring and experienced professionals in aviation and aerospace. It encourages your career in aviation and aerospace and helps you succeed through learning and development opportunities. Whether you are a pilot, air traffic controller, aerospace engineer, aircraft mechanic or technician – or just want to be – we are here to help you soar!
We connect professionals who have specific aviation or aerospace skills and knowledge with women who want the same skills in order to move up in their career.
This Mentorship Program
Our program is different! The program has divided the phases of your career into three parts. Within these pillars, you can be a mentor and a mentee.
Phase 1: Imagining a career in aviation and aerospace
Phase 2: Training, developing your skills and looking for career guidance
Phase 3: Developing with in your career and looking to advance even further
Getting support and guidance from a mentor can help you decide on the best direction for you on your career path. Someone who is ahead of you in their career can offer key perspectives and support.
Once you are on your way, you can also become a mentor, pay it forward and help the next group of women follow their passions too.
Who Should Participate?
No matter where you are in your aviation career, there’s an opportunity for you to be helped by someone ahead of you on the career ladder. Or, you can offer help to someone coming up behind you.
As a mentee, you will gain exposure to more experienced professional women in aviation and aerospace. They offer you new ideas, help learn new competencies, gain valuable insights, solidify your career goals and broaden your professional network. Having a mentor will help you with practical advice, encouragement and support as well as increase your social and academic confidence.
As a mentor, you will have the opportunity to help more junior women in aviation and aerospace. You can enhance your interpersonal, leadership and communication skills. You can increase your feeling of connection to your colleagues, build new professional relationships and share your knowledge. Best of all, you will be rewarded with a sense of achievement when your mentee succeeds.
What to Expect
We strive to create compatible matches. Whether you are a mentor or a mentee, we want your partnership to succeed, so we will provide you with the help and support you need to build a productive relationship.
Once you two have met and both feel that you are a good match for each other, you will define a set of goals to work towards and together commit to a six month to one year partnership.
