2026 Captain Judy Cameron Scholarship Recipients

6 March 2026, Toronto, ON – The Northern Lights Aero Foundation is pleased to announce eight recipients of the seventh annual Captain Judy Cameron scholarship for Canadian women in aviation. Air Canada and CAE generously provided funding of $5,000 for each scholarship recipient. Eight pilots were chosen from across Canada for their accomplishments, inspiration, and encouragement of other women in aviation.

“It has been inspiring to watch past recipients become flight instructors, medevac pilots, and First Officers with major airlines,” said Judy Cameron, retired Air Canada Boeing 777 captain. “The 2026 recipients are women who not only excel in their own training, but also actively encourage other women on their aviation journeys. I am deeply grateful to Air Canada and CAE for supporting Canadian women in aviation through this partnership with the Northern Lights Aero Foundation.”

Air Canada recipients of the Captain Judy Cameron Scholarship:

Faith Mulholland of Eden Mills, Ontario, is a second-year student pilot at Moncton Flight College and the Founder and President of the Women in Aviation Society at Mount Allison University.

Afrah Khan of Edmonton, Alberta, holds a Private Pilot Licence from the Alberta College of Avionics and volunteers with Elevate Aviation and the Alberta Aviation Museum.

Aymie Rioux of St-Germain, Quebec, trains at Exactair and holds a Commercial Pilot Licence. She serves as Vice-President of The Ninety-Nines in Quebec and volunteers with Elevate Aviation and SERABEC civilian search and rescue.

Kesaia Bruni of Mississauga, Ontario, is pursuing her Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence at Cygnet Aviation, where she was elected class representative. She has also contributed more than 500 volunteer hours in her community.

CAE recipients of the Captain Judy Cameron Scholarship:

Katelyn Flear of Caledonia, Ontario, recently passed her Commercial Pilot flight test at the Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre and serves as Social Media Coordinator for the University of Waterloo Aviation Society.

Madison Crane of Etobicoke, Ontario, holds a Private Pilot Licence from Diamond Flight Centre. She is President of the Commercial Aviation Management Council at Western University and Membership Chair of Western Aviatrix.

Sophia Hutchcroft of Calgary, Alberta, is a student at Mount Royal University, holds a Private Pilot Licence, and serves as Vice-President of Events for the MRU Women in Aviation Club.

Natasha Razzak of Sherwood Park, Alberta, holds a Private Pilot Licence from Centennial Flight Centre and volunteers with The Citizens Foundation Pakistan and Elevate Aviation.

Recipients will be acknowledged at the Northern Lights Aero Foundation’s annual gala on October 3, 2026, at the Pearson Convention Centre in Brampton, Ontario.

le 6 mars 2026 – La Northern Lights Aero Foundation est fière d’annoncer les huit lauréates de la septième édition de la bourse annuelle Captain Judy Cameron, destinée à soutenir les femmes canadiennes poursuivant une carrière en aviation. Grâce au généreux soutien d’Air Canada et de CAE, chacune des récipiendaires recevra une bourse de 5 000 $.

Sélectionnées parmi des candidates de partout au pays, ces huit pilotes se distinguent par leurs réalisations, leur engagement et leur contribution à l’avancement des femmes dans le domaine de l’aviation.

« Voir les anciennes lauréates devenir instructrices de vol, pilotes d’évacuation médicale ou copilotes au sein de grandes compagnies aériennes est une source d’inspiration constante », a déclaré Judy Cameron, capitaine retraitée de Boeing 777 chez Air Canada. « Les lauréates de 2026 sont des femmes qui excellent non seulement dans leur propre formation, mais qui jouent aussi un rôle actif pour encourager d’autres femmes à suivre leurs traces. Je suis profondément reconnaissante envers Air Canada et CAE pour leur soutien continu aux femmes canadiennes en aviation, rendu possible grâce à ce partenariat avec la Northern Lights Aero Foundation. »

Lauréates de la bourse Captain Judy Cameron d’Air Canada :

Captain Judy Cameron Scholarship Applications 2026

31 October 2025, Toronto – This will be the seventh year of the Captain Judy Cameron Scholarship for Canadian women pursuing careers as pilots or aircraft maintenance engineers. Past recipients are now first officers, flight instructors and Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) all across Canada.

“As applications open for Captain Judy Cameron Scholarships, it is exciting to see the progress of past recipients,” said Judy Cameron, Boeing 777 Captain at Air Canada (retired), and Director of the Northern Lights Aero Foundation. “From Jazz Captain and First Officer, to air ambulance, corporate, and charter pilots, as well as First Officers with major airlines, these women are turning their aviation dreams into reality, thanks to the support of Air Canada and CAE. Meeting the newest scholarship recipients at the Northern Lights Gala earlier this month was inspiring. Each of them is not only excelling in her training but also giving back. They are mentoring, volunteering, and encouraging other women to follow their own paths in aviation. I look forward to celebrating their future accomplishments.”

The Captain Judy Cameron Scholarship, awarded by Air Canada, targets women who are pursuing careers as commercial fixed wing pilots or aircraft maintenance engineers. The Captain Judy Cameron scholarship, awarded by CAE, targets women who are pursuing careers as commercial fixed wing pilots. Preference is given to those who volunteer to help other women in aviation or who have financial need.

Applications for the 2026 scholarships will be open on the Northern Lights Aero Foundation website at northernlightsaerofoundation.com from November 1 to November 30, 2025.

La bourse d’études Commandante-Judy-Cameron, décernée par Air Canada, s’adresse aux femmes qui poursuivent une carrière de pilote professionnelle ou technicienne d’entretien d’aéronefs. La bourse Commandante-Judy-Cameron, remise par CAE, s’adresse aux femmes qui poursuivent une carrière de pilote professionnelle. La préférence est accordée à celles qui font du bénévolat au sein d’organisations qui font la promotion des femmes dans l’aviation ou qui ont des besoins financiers.

Seven pilots and one Aircraft Maintenance Engineer were chosen from across Canada for their accomplishments, inspiration, and encouragement of other women in aviation.

“Meeting scholarship recipients at the Northern Lights gala each year is the highlight of the evening for me,” said Judy Cameron, retired Air Canada Boeing 777 Captain. “These young women are the future of aviation. They have not only shown determination and excellence in their training, but they have also encouraged other women by mentoring and volunteering.  Thanks to Air Canada and CAE for supporting diversity in these fields where women are so underrepresented.”

Deserving women were chosen from all across Canada, who are notable not only for their own accomplishments, but also for their inspiration and encouragement of others.
